Originally built in 1964, this 960 square foot bungalow had never been renovated when it was purchased in 2015. We worked with the homeowners to develop a phased renovation strategy that would transform the home into the ideal space for their young family. The first three of five phases are complete.
The initial phase involved completely gutting the main floor to create an open plan living space and a luxurious 5 piece bathroom flanked by two spacious bedrooms. Phase two developed the basement to provide additional living space, a guest bedroom and second bathroom. The third phase re-clad the home and further opened it up with the addition of new windows connecting the living spaces to the backyard.
Upcoming phases include a 400 square foot addition to add an inviting entrance, powder room and new office, as well as a new garage to match the house. Following the worldwide pandemic, the family is seriously considering a laneway house over the new garage to allow for self-isolation and to accommodate visiting family.
