In 2023, LOLA was awarded the Camp Chief Hector project. We aimed to create wash facilities that reflect the camp’s values: honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and inclusivity. Daylighting and visibility were essential in the design of these gender-neutral wash facilities. Our design maximized both connecting users to the outdoors while promoting safety. Separate entrances reduce congestion, and an open-concept layout ensures inclusion.

Safety, accessibility, and blending with nature were our top priorities for this year-round facility with minimal environmental impact and Fire Smart compliance. Built for durability and low maintenance, these buildings can weather heavy use and harsh weather. Modular construction ensured quality and minimal disruption during building. Natural colors blend with the landscape, pitched roofs facilitate snow removal and interior benches offer comfortable waiting areas, promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
